A film’s international ambition begins with the story it wants to tell. At Rehoben Inspiraxion Media, our starting point is authentic African experience: a particular person, a particular place and a dramatic question worth following.
Africa contains many cultures, languages and screen traditions. A production brief should recognise that specificity. A story set in Accra, for example, needs its own research, creative relationships and sense of place. It should not be treated as interchangeable with a story set elsewhere on the continent.
Start with the story and the people around it
We welcome conversations with writers, producers, directors, performers and technical collaborators across Africa, the UK and the diaspora. An effective first introduction explains the story, its current stage and the contribution a partner could make.
For a documentary, that introduction might centre on the subject, the proposed access and the questions the film will explore. For a drama, it might include a concise synopsis, the central characters and the intended format. These are starting points for discussion, rather than a request to send confidential material without an agreed submission route.
Build the production around the location
RIM’s business approach centres on filming substantial parts of suitable projects in Africa, with planned UK post-production. Local creative and production relationships are central to making that approach work.
The production plan needs to account for the real demands of the story: locations, language, performers, crew, travel, equipment, permissions and a realistic schedule. Cost should be assessed against the complete delivery plan. A lower headline filming cost is not useful if the project has overlooked sound, data management or the work needed to finish the film.
Plan the finish before filming begins
Picture editing, sound, colour, subtitles and delivery materials deserve attention during development. Agreeing how footage will be recorded, organised and transferred helps the production and post-production teams work towards the same result.
Our production services and directing approach sit within that wider conversation. The scope depends on the project, its partners, its resources and the responsibilities agreed in writing.
Think about the audience early
An audience plan gives creative ambition a practical direction. Who is most likely to connect with the story? How might they discover it? What language, access or contextual material could improve their experience?
RIM is interested in routes to audiences in the UK, Europe, the USA and beyond. A festival, screening or platform opportunity must be assessed for the particular film; no acquisition or selection is guaranteed. Our distribution and rights page explains the conversations we can explore.
