Help the right film
find its audience.
A finished film needs a clear proposition, an understood rights position and a realistic route to viewers. RIM is developing a selective distribution and rights activity focused on African stories and suitable diaspora work, beginning through experienced partners and clearly defined opportunities.
We welcome conversations with producers, rights holders, sales businesses, distributors and exhibitors about films with a distinctive voice and a credible delivery position.
Discuss film rights
Prepare the film for a useful conversation
We consider the story, genre, language, production stage, intended audience and available territories. A film's trailer, synopsis, approved screener, technical materials and rights information should help a prospective partner assess what is being offered.
The appropriate role for RIM may be release preparation, a particular exhibition opportunity or an agreed rights mandate. Any representation begins with an assessment and a specific agreement.
Think by audience territory and channel
Our international focus includes the UK, selected European markets and the USA, with African audiences and territorial partnerships remaining important. Each market needs its own consideration of language, release partners, audience demand and available rights.
Suitable routes may include cinema, curated events, festivals, educational or cultural screenings, television and digital platforms. We consider the combination that fits the film and its existing commitments.
Exhibition as part of a wider release
RIM's developing exhibition activity creates opportunities to discuss individual screenings and curated programmes with venues and cultural hosts. A public event can introduce a film to an audience and create a valuable conversation around it.
Screening permission, broader distribution rights and festival availability are agreed separately. We work from the rights actually available and coordinate the proposed use with the producer or authorised representative.
What to send first
Introduce the film with its title, synopsis, genre, runtime, language, production country and current stage. Explain your role, the territories and rights available, any existing representation and the opportunity you want to discuss. Let us know which trailer, screener or delivery materials are ready; we can agree the appropriate next submission step.
Before we begin.
Can you guarantee a sale to Netflix or another platform?
No. Platform acquisitions and distribution agreements depend on the buyer's own decisions. We focus on preparing a credible proposition and exploring suitable routes, rather than promising a particular acquisition.
Must a film be completely finished before an enquiry?
We can discuss a developing or completed project. Its stage should be clear, and an early conversation is different from a commitment to represent or release it.
Let’s bring your next story into focus.
A film, a screening, a creative partnership or a learning programme. Tell us what you want to achieve.
