Film festivals

A meeting place
for African stories.

RIM welcomes collaborations that bring African film, filmmakers and audiences into the same conversation. We are developing festival relationships and showcase opportunities across Africa, the UK and the USA, with a focus on thoughtful programming and well planned delivery.

For established festivals, cultural organisations and prospective hosts, we offer a starting point for a defined creative or production partnership.

Work with an existing festival

A collaboration can be a guest curated film programme, an African Origin conversation, event filming, a moderated industry discussion, audience outreach or an agreed production assignment. We start with the host's programme and the contribution that will be useful to its audience.

We can also discuss practical workshops and learning sessions alongside a screening or industry programme, with a facilitator and format matched to the participants.

Develop a focused showcase

An RIM hosted showcase would begin with a manageable selection of films and conversations, developed with suitable local partners. Our ambition is to build a recognisable programme that can grow through delivery experience and audience demand.

Each location should have its own purpose, programme, rights arrangements and accountable delivery team. A single well curated event provides a stronger foundation than an international schedule without the resources to deliver it.

Support the journey of an RIM film

Festival participation can form part of the development and release journey for a suitable RIM production. We consider the audience, film stage, selection criteria and timing in relation to the wider distribution approach.

Submissions, selections, event services and co-hosted programmes are distinct activities. We will identify the actual role and participation when a collaboration is confirmed.

Opportunities for cultural and educational partners

Universities, arts organisations, creative networks and appropriate programme sponsors can discuss an activity that combines cinema with exchange and learning. This might be a film and discussion, a practical workshop or a focused creative industry session.

Tell us your organisation, location, audience, proposed dates and the contribution you want to explore. We can then shape a conversation around programming, delivery, resources and outcomes.

A few useful answers

Before we begin.

Can RIM help deliver part of our festival?

We can discuss a defined service or programme contribution. Share the work required, the timetable and existing arrangements so that responsibilities and costs can be considered clearly.
