Film production

Build the right production
around your story.

RIM develops original African film projects and provides defined production services for other producers and clients. We connect the creative ambition of a film with the people, planning and practical work needed to bring it to the screen.

Whether you have an early concept, a developed script or a specific production requirement, we begin by understanding the project, its audience and the role you need us to fulfil.

RIM Originals

Our original film development focuses on authentic African stories with a clear creative identity. We are interested in contemporary drama, contained thrillers, documentary and other suitable projects where the writing, access, team and production scale support the ambition.

We welcome introductions from writers, producers and creative collaborators with a strong proposition. Development is a process of shaping the material, understanding the rights and assembling the right relationships before a production commitment.

Production services for your project

An assignment can cover a complete commissioned film or a defined part of another producer's work. We agree the scope, responsibilities, schedule and delivery requirements at the outset.

Development and packaging can include research, treatment development, script support, a preliminary production approach and materials for partner discussions.

Production planning can include script breakdown, budget coordination, scheduling, locations, crew requirements and the organisation of relevant permissions and suppliers.

African location production can involve local producing relationships, cast and crew coordination, production logistics and management of the agreed shoot.

UK production elements can include interviews, selected scenes or supporting material where the project requires them.

Post-production coordination can connect the shoot with editorial, sound, music, colour, subtitles and the agreed delivery process through suitable appointed specialists.

African production with a planned UK finish

We plan the shoot and the post-production workflow together. The people capturing the film should understand how the footage, sound and production records will reach the receiving team, and the finishing team should understand the creative intention.

Local production knowledge matters. The country, locations, crew, travel and schedule should serve the film and its full budget. UK post-production is a defined contribution to be planned and costed for each project.

From first conversation to delivery

Understand the brief

Establish the format, story, intended audience, schedule and contribution required.

Identify the creative approach, team, production scope and initial costs.

Confirm responsibilities, budget, payment milestones, rights and deliverables.

Produce and deliver

Coordinate the agreed production and handover, with clear communication through each stage.

Starting the conversation

Tell us whether the project is fiction, documentary or commissioned content; its current stage; proposed filming locations; intended schedule; and any available budget range. A concise synopsis or production brief is the best starting point. We can then agree what further material would be useful.

A few useful answers

Before we begin.

Can RIM work alongside an existing producer?

Yes. We can discuss a defined producing, production services or coordination role within an existing team. The first step is to establish the contribution needed and who is responsible for the wider project.

Can we discuss a project before a script is complete?

Yes. An early conversation can help identify the next development task. The appropriate scope may be a development assignment rather than immediate production.
